CARLSBAD - Saying "Happy
Mother's Day" with flowers warms the heart of many
mothers who receive them from their children on this special
day.
But for Jerri Jackson, owner of Carlsbad Floral, the women
in her family, extended family and female employees, a flower
arrangement from their children, although it would be appreciated,
is probably not high on their list of things to get for
Mother's Day. In fact, flowers are probably the last thing
they want to look at.
Putting up their feet, a quiet day with without phones ringing
off the hook, printers zipping out orders via the Internet
and customers coming in to the floral shop to place an order
for that special arrangement for mom, is how they want to
spend Mother's Day.
The past week for Jackson, who has owned the floral shop
for almost nine years, has involved long hours. The week
leading up to Mother's Day is considered one of the busiest
weeks of the year for florists. Friday meant working into
the wee hours of the morning filling orders, and on
Saturday, staff, family and friends worked late into the
day alongside Jackson until the last flower arrangement
had been delivered.
