Council spokesman Philip Burton told the Times he had presented a workshop to councillors on the possibility of an annual garden and flower show, and what direction such an event may take.
Mr Burton said he was involved in discussions with a group of individuals keen to get the event off the ground but he stressed the individuals were not potential sponsors.
"They've got the full range of skills in various areas," Mr Burton said. "We wouldn't be in discussions with them if they couldn't move it along." The council, meanwhile, has asked for a feasibility report on the possible event. Mr Burton said the report would address issues such as sponsorship, costs, exhibitor revenue and gate sales, and the report would be put to either the council's event sponsorship sub-committee or full council. Mr Burton expected that report would be ready in either late January or early February |
