The Australian Bankers' Association
(ABA) says customers of online florist Roses Only whose
credit card details were stolen from the company's payments
database, will not be liable for any unauthorised purchases.
ABA
chief executive David Bell says customers whose details
have been stolen and used to purchase goods will not be
liable for those costs.
"The most important message here is that customers are
not responsible for unauthorised transactions on their
accounts," he said.
"If they have been defrauded, they will
get their money back."
Roses Only says its online payments
system was compromised earlier this year.
A special police
taskforce has been created to investigate the credit card
scam.
There are unconfirmed reports that the credit card
information has been used to make luxury purchases in south-east
Asia.
