A FLORIST who leads a double life as a glamorous biker chick has reluctantly put her set of wheels up for sale – all in the name of love.
Shoppers passing Artemis Flowers in Causeyside Street, Paisley, have been surprised to see a stunning blue and silver-coloured motorcycle taking pride of place in the shop window.
The bike belongs to florist Elaine McCallion, who has been a keen motorcyclist for a number of years.
But she has now put her powerful Suzuki machine up for sale alongside the roses and other blooms at the florist shop after tying the knot with her sweetheart Patrick.
Now that she is a newlywed, 38-year-old Elaine admits she simply doesn’t have the time to burn rubber any more.
She recently married Patrick in the appropriately-named Little Chapel of Flowers in Las Vegas and wedded bliss is proving so hectic that she just can’t find the time to get out and about on her beloved bike.
Elaine said: “I’ve reluctantly put my bike up for sale. I’ll miss it but there is no point having it when I can’t use it.”
Bashful Elaine stopped short of saying that part of her reason for giving up her Suzuki was because new hubby Patrick, 39, is worried about her coming to harm.
But Patrick admitted: “I would never go on the back of it and, obviously, I am bit worried that Elaine might have an accident.”
In fact, Elaine’s regular passenger over the past couple of years has been her two-and-half-year-old Boston Terrier pooch Harley.
The four-legged biker had a special seat to keep him safe and secure on the back of the Suzuki.
And, what’s more, he even had his own leather biker hat that fitted snugly on his head and over his ears.
“Harley loved going out and about with me all over Scotland on the bike,” said Elaine. “Like me, he’ll just have to get used to not doing that any more.”Elaine has already had a number of enquiries about the bike from passers-by who have spotted it in the shop window.
“It has only 8,000 dry miles on it, which is very low mileage, and I’ll accept £2,950 or the nearest offer for it,” she said.
Anyone who is interested in buying Elaine’s bike should call in at Artemis Flowers during business hours.
