LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Part
of a Portland neighborhood business was completely destroyed
by fire Wednesday night. Flames broke out in the greenhouse
area of the Victor Mathis Florist at 25th and Bank Streets
around 6:20 p.m.
It took about 45 firefighters around 25 minutes to get the
fire under control. The cause is still unknown, but arson
investigators were on the scene. Neighbors say the business
has been family-owned for years.
"It's like a disaster don't know why but it's gone,
it's sad," said JoAnn Dupin, a neighbor of the florist
shop.
No one was inside the greenhouse area when the fire started.
The greenhouses are considered a total loss.
