January 22, 2008: It will be business
unusual for flower exporters’ lobby, the Kenya Flower
Council, at this year’s European flower show which
opened in Germany yesterday.
Besides pursuing the usual goal of looking for new market
opportunities and signing new deals, the lobby will have
to convince Kenya’s clients that images of chaos they
have seen on television in the past three weeks have not
impacted negatively on the flower sub-sector.
Ms Jane Ngige, chief executive officer of the Kenya Flower
Council (KFC), reckons that rebuilding the country’s
image would be top on the agenda of the team that left the
country for the annual event at the weekend.
Our partners have legitimate concerns over the violence
that has gripped the country since the December 31,”
she said.
