NORTH CANTON: The recently
shuttered Hoover Co. campus has its first tenant.
The Flower Factory will lease the former Hoover shipping
warehouse on Orchard Street as well as two large satellite
buildings, city officials said.
The space will be used as a warehouse and distribution center
and bring 15 jobs to the city, Mayor David Held said.
''The big challenge is always the first tenant,'' Held said.
''We are pleased to be a part of the Flower Factory's expansion
and hope to announce a second tenant in early April.''
The Flower Factory sells artificial flowers, ribbon, pottery,
baskets, craft and party supplies to vendors. Its store
at 5655 Whipple Avenue N.W. will remain open.
Held said that Flower Factory owner Dennis Mulqueen of Jackson
Township is thinking about manufacturing on the Hoover site
several items currently made in Asian factories. Manufacturing
could increase employment to 75 or 80, Held said.
Held said four other potential tenants are interested in
leasing space.
