A FLOWER festival is to raise
money for work on Corwen Church, members of the town WI
were told at their February meeting in the sports pavilion.
The festival, from May 2 to 5, will be in aid of the church's
roof appeal.
The next meeting on March 4, will be a floral demonstration
by Wendy Davis of Llangollen, to which visitors are invited.
Tickets are on sale, costing £3 from WI members, and
will include refreshments and a draw.
Further details are available from Clarissa Roberts on 01490
412498.
The main event of the evening was an entertaining and lively
talk by member Eileen Chambers on Laughter Is The Best Medicine.
She drew on her own experiences in the nursing profession,
from her early days training at Manchester Royal Infirmary
in the 1950s when the wards were heated by open fires and
ruled by tyrannical ward sisters, to her time as a district
nurse in Cumbria.
Every comic incident, she said, was true, such as the man
who turned green as a result of being injected with a dye.
On another occasion, she mistakenly went to the wrong house
and bathed a bewildered woman.
The vote of thanks was given by the president.
