MANY keen gardeners were
pleased with their entries and wins in the weekend’s
Orange and District Horticultural Society Spring Flower
Show, but none was more delighted than first-time winner
Eve Serisier.
At just seven, Eve has taken out the novice daffodil section.
With the encouragement of her grandfather Graham, Eve planted
her daffodils in the front yard of her home in Autumn Street.
“When it was hot on a Sunday I could water them. I
would come home and look at them every day after school
to see how much they had grown,” Eve said.
“Grandpa helped me put them in a little vase and showed
me how to put the flowers around the right way,” she
said.
Eve’s family say they are particularly proud that
she has won the section, which family friend and champion
gardener Max Connolly won in 1999.
Eve will proudly display the Ken Smith Perpetual Trophy
at home for the next year.
