Flower Mound
and its chamber of commerce canceled a joint festival planned
for May after failing to raise $50,000 in sponsorships,
chamber officials said.
The town also blamed the economy, saying that would-be festival-goers
may be less inclined to spend money on festival food and
activities.
Officials from both sides said they would reschedule the
first-year event, Wild About Flower Mound, for spring 2009.
The festival was to include live music, with headliners
Le Freak and Richard Marx, as well as crafts, kids activities
and trade expos. Officials said both the town and chamber
are financially stable.
"There are no hard feelings," chamber president
Katy Taggart said. "Just too many things not happening."
