Adiyl Mir, a Flower Mound High School
student, was killed in a one-car accident Sunday night on
the corner of Freeport Parkway and Patriot Drive in Grapevine.
According to Grapevine police, Mir, 17, was traveling east
on Freeport when his vehicle hit a tree and careened a building.
Police responded to a call at 11:49 p.m. No one else was
in the car.
Sgt. Kim Smith said alcohol and drugs are not being investigated.
“We’re looking at speed as being a possible
factor,” Smith said. “We’re still in the
early stages of the investigation, so the exact speed hasn’t
been determined.”
Smith said the information has been forwarded to the Flower
Mound Police Department so that officers can work with the
school to set up counseling sessions when students return
to class Tuesday.
