STUNNING arrangements of
blooms filled St Clement's Church in Cheshunt for a three-day
flower festival over the May Day bank holiday weekend.
Visitors to the festival, which is held every five years,
were treated to the scent of blossoms in every aisle, pew
end, window sill and altar rail at the Cheshunt Wash church.
"It was absolutely beautiful!" said church spokeswoman
Claire Wilson. "It was breath-taking and the flowers
were magnificent. Some of the arrangements were 4-5ft high.
"In one of the arrangements someone had made a guide
dog out of flowers. It's a major event and clearly a lot
of thought, effort and time had gone into the planning of
each arrangement."
The church was adorned with 27 displays put together by
people from across the community and not just members of
the congregation.
The theme of the festival was Thanksgiving for Life and
arrangements included baptism, golden wedding and the armed
forces.
Arrangers spent the whole of Friday setting up their displays
before the church was opened up to visitors on Saturday,
Sunday and May Day Monday where they could buy refreshments
and wander round the floral masterpieces.

"The flowers were so stunning they are being left in
the church for a few days," said Claire.
