Second World War veterans
turned out for the annual dinner of Spalding Parachute Regiment.
The group welcomed Katie Morton, South Holland Flower Queen
2008, as its guest of honour.
Members at the top table included veterans of jumps over
Normandy on June 6, 1944, and others with a wealth of other
experiences from North Africa to Norway and all points in
between.
Entertainment secretary George Woolsey, who is Katie's grandfather,
said: "They are all very, very brave men with some
incredible stories."
The regiment will accompany the Flower Queen on parade day
Saturday just as it did 50 years ago at the birth of the
event. |
