The Ellerslie International Flower Show has not only switched cities - it is also changing seasons.
The festival is being moved from Auckland to the Garden City, after Christchurch City Council bought the hosting rights at the end of last year.
Mayor Bob Parker has told a small crowd of people in Cathedral Square that the next show will not be held until March next year.
He says the council has moved the flower show from its traditional November date, to avoid a clash with Canterbury's Cup and Show Week.
