The Cincinnati Flower Show
opens at Coney Island with a Fine Food Show today and Sunday.
More than 50 vendors will provide lots of noshing, and a
local chefs will compete in a cook-off at 12:30 p.m. each
day.
Next Saturday and Sunday will be Small Wonders Weekend,
featuring kid-sized bird's nests, beekeeping lessons, a
straw maze, composting games, alpacas, a miniature horse,
pots to plant, flowers to pick, trees to take home and shows
by Zak Morgan, part magician, part musician.
Flower Show chardonnay: Tino Vino Vintners in Hyde Park
is offering a commemorative chardonnay ($16) with a Flower
Show label through April at Tino Vino and the Hyde Park
Kroger. It will also be available for sale by the tasting
pour, glass or bottle at the Fine Food Show today and Sunday.
Part of the proceeds from each bottle sold will benefit
the Cincinnati Horticultural Society, which presents the
flower show.
Tram rides: Avoid the walk from the parking lots to the
exhibits by riding the Spring Grove Cemetery & Arboretum
tram.
Café de Fleurs: The popular French café from
Jean-Robert de Cavel is open for after-5 p.m. events by
special arrangement (513-721-1345).
Wonders d'Elegance: Classic cars from members of Concours
d'Elegance will be a backdrop to the Tuesday-Thursday competition
of the area's top amateur gardeners. |
