A 21-year-old Flower Mound
man is in the Denton County Jail, charged with robbing a
Lewisville man and woman on Sept. 6.
Capt. Kevin Deaver of the Lewisville Police Department said
an 18-year-old man told police that he and a female had
gone to the Hidden Creek Apartments at 1200 College Parkway
on that Saturday night to meet with “an acquaintance
of a friend of his.”
“The victim said that when the acquaintance got in
his vehicle, he pulled a gun on him and demanded money from
him and the female,” Deaver said. He said the man
did not comply, and that he was struck on the head with
a pistol.
He said the suspect then left after having taken a total
of about $200 from the two victims.
The male victim, whom police did not identify, was treated
and released at Medical Center of Lewisville.
Deaver said the injured victim only knew the suspect by
his first name. Detective Richard Anders determined that
the suspect was Stephen Louis Vargas of Flower Mound.
Anders obtained arrest warrants for Vargas and executed
a search warrant on his residence. A pistol that was believed
to have been used during the offense was located in the
residence.
Vargas was arrested Wednesday. After being interviewed by
Lewisville police, he was charged with two counts of aggravated
robbery and transferred to the Denton County Jail. His bonds
are $50,000 on each charge.
“This was not a random act of violence,” Deaver
said, “but the result of a pre-arranged meeting between
acquaintances.”
