Residents of Tehachapi will have the
unique opportunity to meet each other and develop new friendships
when Applegate Garden Florist hosts the annual FTD®Good
Neighbor Day® event on Sept. 5. Beginning at 8 a.m.,
Applegate Garden Florist, at 1121-H Valley Blvd., will
give away 960 roses in bunches of a dozen, absolutely free
to anyone who visits the shop, while supplies last.
There is one catch, however. Terri Ables, the owner of
Applegate Garden Florist hopes the goodwill is exactly
that — “catching.” Anyone who picks up
a dozen free roses will be asked to sign a promise to keep
one of the flowers for themselves and give the others away
to 11 different people — spreading goodwill and friendship
in the community.
“We hope that the people of Tehachapi will be able
to get acquainted with new people or will renew an old
friendship during FTD Good Neighbor Day, ” said Ables. “We
hope to help create a friendlier, more caring and compassionate
world, starting right here in Tehachapi.”
“This is our fourth year giving away roses and receiving
smiles. Our youngest was giving all the teachers at her
pre-school roses. It even teaches our young children about
giving to others. We have men, women and children picking
up their dozen roses to give away. We here at Applegate
Garden Florist enjoy giving something back to our community.”
