On Thursday, Oct. 18, Kandi
and Dennis Smith kicked off the grand reopening of Tehachapi
Flower Shop with generous donations made to local organizations.
Donation recipients joined Kandi, the flower shop staff
and community members for refreshments, a donation ceremony
and ribbon cutting ceremony at the flower shop located
at 119 East F St.
The Smiths recently took over ownership of the flower shop
and gave the business, that began in 1963, a complete remodel.
The couple wanted to celebrate their reopening and at the
same time thank the community for it’s support.
“Instead of spending money on a huge party or giving
away flowers to celebrate our reopening we decided to give
back to the community. I feel very blessed and have never
been in a position to be able to give like this before,” said
Kandi.
The recipients of the Smiths donations were The Pregnancy
Life Center, Tehachapi Senior Center, Tehachapi High School
Jazz Band, Tehachapi High School Chorus, and Jacobsen Middle
School Chorus.
