LAHORE:
Begum Robina Khalid, wife of Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool,
here Tuesday inaugurated the 150th annual spring flower
show at the Baradari, Bagh-e-Jinnah.
Begum Robin Khalid accompanied by Horticultural Society
of Pakistan Finance Secretary Nosheen Sarfaraz, took a round
of the flower show and visited various stalls, which were
set-up by different business houses including the National
Bank of Pakistan SF, PHDEB, Askari Bank. She appreciated
the efforts of the organisers for creating such healthy
activities.
The flower show would continue till March 29. Governor Lt
Gen (r) Khalid Maqbool will be the chief guest at the prize
distribution ceremony of the show on March 27.
The Horticulture Society has a long and interesting history
dating from 1851. In 1851,17 enthusiasts established the
Agri-Horticultural Society under the President-ship of Sir
John Lawrence & patronage of Lord Dathousie. In 1862,Sir
John Lawrence established Agri-Horticultural Garden, then
known Lawrence Garden now Bagh-e-Jinnah. |
