A FLOWER festival
will be held at St Margaret's Church, Waddingworth, over
the Bank Holiday weekend, Saturday, May 24 to Monday, May
26.
Bookworms is the theme and the festival is open each day
from 10.30am to 5pm.
There will also be a book stall, bric-a-brac and refreshments.
Waddingworth is signposted off the A158 in Baumber. Follow
this road and look out for a sign to Red House Farm and
the church can be seen on the right.
The ancient church of St Margaret's was closed for 30 years
and then brought back into use as an organ builders' store.
A small group of people then bought the building with a
vision to restoring it to an active church again.
Permission was granted and a licence obtained for five services
a year.
Events to raise funds for restoration have been ongoing
for several years.
Situated in St Margaret's churchyard is a very old stone
plinth which marks the centre of Lincolnshire.
Legend has it that the bell fell to the ground at the outbreak
of World War One and World War Two. |
