WHO: Visitors can escape the frigid cold
temperatures to the warm confines of the historic glass
house of the Garfield Park Conservatory, celebrating its
100th birthday in 2008!
WHAT: Experience a winter wonderland inside for one more
week at the "Let it snow, let it grow" flower
show.
WHEN: Now through January 13, 2008, daily from 9 a.m. to
5 p.m. and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
WHERE: Garfield Park Conservatory, 300 N. Central Park Ave.
MORE: Blanketing the Show House and Horticulture Hall will
be a display of over 75 varieties of predominantly white
plants that includes poinsettias, begonias, Caladium, plumbago
and geraniums to name a few. Fir trees decorated in holiday
lights hold court surrounded by the all-white display that
mimics a snow-covered landscape.
See what's in bloom at the Garfield Park Conservatory in
2008 during its centennial year. Each seasonal flower display
in 2008 at the Garfield Park Conservatory will pay tribute
to the Conservatory's long illustrious history, with portions
of each show devoted to an all-American selection of hybrids
created during a given time period.
Garfield Park Conservatory which first opened its doors
to the public in April 1908 celebrates 100 years of innovation
and botanical contributions to the city and its visitors
with year-long events, activities, shows and programs in
2008, all themed "CHICAGOASIS: The Greenest Show on
Earth."
